It’s been over a month in development and Subvein version 0.53 is finally out!
This version is all about community. Subvein is still very young and players are what matters most. Everything included in this version is here to encourage and support Subvein’s rapid growth so that pretty soon we’ll have active servers all over the world! If you like this game and want more players NOW is the time to spread the word. This is the version where Subvein goes to the moon. The bugs have been fixed, the game has been balanced, and now Subvein is ready for the world. With a new gameplay video, paid online advertising and a proper installer Subvein is in the best shape of its life. I’m very excited for the upcoming days, weeks and months… we have a lot of games ahead of us!

Dedicated server improvements allowing for extra hosting.
New sexy graphics that enhance usability and pwning efficiency.
You no longer receive money upon dying.. but now recieve a constant slow trickle of money instead. Stops people running out to get killed just for cash.
All gravity affected projectiles now land exactly where you click them.
Forcefields, Bullet Time, Invisibility and Shield now temporarily disable when holding objectives.
Scorechart now displays how many players are in the server.
Jumping uses up less sprint energy.
Your sprint energy is very slightly increased as you level up.
Carry capacity per level has been reduced, however you don’t get completely slowed down to 50% immediately when encumbered.
Mana per level has been reduced from 0.5 to 0.2.
Made netcode improvements to player motion on laggy servers.
Explosions now throw you up in the air a bit.. GTA2 style.
BX_Foundation – an excellent arena-style remake from Halo 2 by swiss.
Removed the arrows for the Counter Snipe and Hitman missions. As a result they both pay about twice as much.
Changed the Halo colour for Counter Snipe and Hitman missions to red to help distinguish them from extraction objectives.
Corpse Construction (TWEAKED): No longer requires Self Repair.
Weapon Handling (TWEAKED): Now scales the steering speed (of the Seek Rifle) with the bullet speed. Buffed reload speed. Nerfed Recoil Reduction.
Self Repair (NERFED): Starts at 10hp instead of 20hp. Takes longer to recharge (10s instead of 5s).
Kamikaze (NERFED): Range only improves by 0.3m instead of 0.5m per level. Should require more skill to get close and use it properly.
Frenzy (NERFED): Time adds only 0.5s instead of 0.6s. Now only makes your head, arms and weapon red, not your entire player (so you can still see what team you’re on).
Clip Magnet (TWEAKED): Now takes 60s to recharge instead of 30s. Lasts longer by an extra second at lvl 10. Smaller range.
Support (BUFFED): Starts off with a higher base range (2m to 5m) so it’s easier to stay in a group. Now also works for mercenaries whenever they stand near another mutant.
Force Fields (BUFFED): Biggest change of all skills. Now has 4 smaller diagonal forcefields instead of 2 longer side ones. This is easier to use. Less hp per forcefield and longer recharge time.
Bouncing Bullets (BUFFED): The bullets move much slower now, so they have more time to steer. More fun and useful.
Bullet Rupture (BUFFED): Number of guts improved from 4 per level to 5 per level.
Dash (TWEAKED): No longer requires Invisibility.
Invisibility (TWEAKED): Only increases by 1s per level instead of 2s. Only costs 15 mana instead of 20. Recharge time is 15s instead of 10s. Temporarily disables all other visual skills when used.
Black HOle (NERFED): Now costs 20 mana instead of 15. Now takes 20s to recharge instead of 10.
Blade Fury (NERFED): Bit of a large change here. Each blade always has 20hp and deals 5hp a second regardless of level. This is more intuitive. 7 blades at level 1, 25 blades by level 10. Ultimately it’s a bit better at early levels, but compared to before is weaker at higher levels. Now takes 30s to recharge. Now changes spin direction when left handed.
Venom (NERFED): Venom cost is now 10 mana instead of 5.
Infection (BUFFED): Infection Range increased from 0.5m per level to 0.6m per level. Base spread recharge time increased from 0.8s to 0.3s.
Critical Shot (BUFFED): Higher critical chance, lower critical damage (always 200%). Ultimately improved from 130% damage to 135% damage at level 10 with greater consistency.
Darkness (BUFFED): The rate of darkening has been increased from 0.025s per level to 0.04s per level.
Thunder Jump (BUFFED): Large change. Range now scales based on the height you jump from along with limitting it. Less stun time but much easier to reach high ranges as you level up. Colour of thunderjump changes when the size is limitted by your max range.
Bullet Time (NERFED): Now costs 25 mana instead of 20. Recharge time is now 15s instead of 5s.
E-Bomb (NERFED): Now travels slightly slower (same speed as a grenade). Lands where you click. Much smaller range from 1.0m per level to 0.6m per level. Now takes 20s to recharge instead of 10s.
Stolen Seekers (NERFED): Recharge longer from 3s to 20s. Duration down from 0.1s per level to 0.05s per level. Range down from 1.0m per level to 0.8m per level.
SlowMo Speedup (BUFFED): Now travels at 0.03% per level instead of 0.025% per level. Now scales the steering speed (of the Seek Rifle) with the bullet speed.
Energize (BUFFED): Now energizes the entire weapon not just the bullets in the weapon. Ultimately improved from 130% damage to 135% damage at level 10.
Plasma (BUFFED): Now travels slightly faster (same speed as a bazooka). Lands where you click. Deals slightly more damage with +5hp per level instead of +4.
Vaporize (TWEAKED): Deals less damage per second from 5hp per level to 4hp per level. Greater range from 0.3m per level to 0.35m per level.
All weapons now have a unique bulletDistanceFadeoff value which determines how much damage they do at the end of their range. Before all non-melee/non-explosive weapons had 0.2 (meaning they dealt only 20% damage at the end of their range).
Most weapons have also been made heavier. Your max capacity per level has also been significantly reduced, which ultimately means you need to think more about what’s in your inventory. Fortunately, if you ARE encumbered your slow down gradually, not immediately. Makes weapon combinations more interesting and reduces grenade spamming.
Knife (TWEAKED): Nerfed range from 1.0 to 0.9. Nerfed bulletDistanceFadeoff from 1.0 to 0.75. Buffed damage from 120 to 140.
Bazooka (TWEAKED): Now land where you click. Nerfed damage from 160hp to 150hp. Buffed draw and reload time from 2s to 1.5s.
USP (BUFFED): Nerfed range from 70 to 60. Buffed bulletDistanceFadeoff from 0.2 to 0.5.
Deagle (TWEAKED): Nerfed cost from 1300 to 1500. Nerfed range from 70 to 60. Buffed bulletDistanceFadeoff from 0.2 to 0.35.
M3 (TWEAKED): Nerfed cost from 1500 to 1800. Buffed bulletDistanceFadeoff from 0.2 to 0.3.
Spas (BUFFED): Nerfed damage from 15hp per pellet to 12hp per pellet. Buffed reload time from 2s to 1.5s. Buffed recoil from 3 to 1.5. Buffed rpm from 250 to 300. Buffed bulletDistanceFadeoff from 0.2 to 0.3.
AK47 (TWEAKED): Nerfed range from 80 to 60. Buffed bulletDistanceFadeoff from 0.2 to 0.4.
M4A1 (TWEAKED): Nerfed range from 110 to 60. Buffed bulletDistanceFadeoff from 0.2 to 0.6.
M249 (NERFED): Nerfed damage from 30 to 28. Nerfed draw time from 1.5s to 2s. Nerfed recoil from 1.0 to 1.1.
M60 (GREATLY NERFED): Nerfed rpm from 500 to 450. Nerfed range from 80 to 60. Nerfed draw time from 1.5s to 2s. Nerfed spread from 2 to 3. Buffed bulletDistanceFadeoff from 0.2 to 0.4.
M24 (TWEAKED): Nerfed damage from 100 to 90. Nerfed bullet speed from 160 to 150. Nerfed rpm from 45 to 40. Buffed weight from 7 to 5. Buffed bulletDistanceFadeoff from 0.2 to 0.75. Buffed draw time from 1.2s to 0.8s. Buffed reload time from 1.5 to 1.0.
PSG1 (BUFFED): Nerfed draw time from 1.4 to 2.0. Nerfed recoil from 2.5 to 5.0. Buffed bullet speed from 140 to 150. Buffed force from 70 to 30. Buffed bulletDistanceFadeoff from 0.2 to 0.75. Buffed spread from 0.2 to 0.1.
Shock Revolver (BUFFED): Nerfed range from 90 to 60. Buffed bulletDistanceFadeoff from 0.2 to 0.5.
Nailgun (NERFED): Nerfed range from 60 to 50. Buffed bulletDistanceFadeoff from 0.2 to 0.3.
Seek Rifle (GREATLY NERFED): Nerfed rpm from 400 to 300. Nerfed clipsize from 15 to 10. Nerfed range from 150 to 60. Buffed bulletDistanceFadeoff from 0.2 to 0.6. Buffed speed from 85 to 70 (actually allows for better seeking).
Railgun (TWEAKED): Nerfed bullet speed from 250 to 200. Nerfed bulletDistanceFadeoff from 1.0 to 0.9. Buffed shockTime from 0.3 to 0.5. Buffed damage from 95 to 100.
Blast Cannon (BUFFED): Buffed clipSize from 20 to 30.
Minigun (TWEAKED): Nerfed clip size from 200 to 100. Buffed bulletDistanceFadeOff from 0.2 to 0.4.
Fixed crash when trying to open Skills menu without being in a game.
Fixed crash when pressing Z to cycle skills when you had 2 or more passive skills invested but no active skills.
Fixed crash when you join a server too late after it’s already switched on to the next map.
Fixed occassional crash if you repeatedly clicked the FIND SERVERS button.
Fixed bug where it appeared that you had unlimited ammo (you really didn’t) if you held down the trigger while reloading.
Fixed bug where you could pickup a Minigun or Blast Cannon from anywhere in the map.
Fixed a bug where grenades and bazooka would sometimes not appear to fire.
Fixed a bug where it told you that you killed yourself when you really didn’t.
Fixed bug where server lobby wouldn’t start searching for servers until you moved the mouse cursor off the button.
Fixed a sound bug when spectating.
Fixed a bug and now being hit by bullets pushes you back slightly (there ya go STM).
Fixed bug where Frenzy would also increase your draw speed along with your rate of fire.
Fixed a bug with zooming in the map editor.
Mission Halo’s no longer show around invisible players.
Corpse Constuction no longer occurs when you kill yourself.
Removed the constant reloading noise when someone else had run out of ammo.
Removed bug that constantly told you your weapon was empty when it really wasn’t.
Removed a few small bugs in the options menu.
Fixed a bug with flashbangs.
